This whole having chronic headaches thing sucks. I am in some of the worst pain that I have been in and school is only a month away….gulps……Good news, the NHL starts in 60 days and the WHL’s training camp is in 20 days.
For someone who has had Celiac for all of their life (me) this is wonderful. I really wish that more things where clearly labeled, especially medicine. I have had medicine where they sworn in places that it didn’t contain milk (another thing that I can’t have) but it did. So then, for weeks/months, I had ear pains along with my chronic headaches! It was miserable!
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration set a final standard on Friday to clearly define what the term “gluten-free” means on food labels.
The new regulation is targeted to help the estimated 3 million Americans who have celiac disease, a chronic inflammatory auto-immune disorder that can affect the lining of the small intestine when gluten is consumed. Gluten is a protein composite found in wheat, rye, barley and crossbreeds of these grassy grains.
“Adherence to a gluten-free diet is the key to treating celiac disease, which can be very disruptive to everyday life,” said FDA Commissioner Margaret A. Hamburg, in the release. “The FDA’s new ‘gluten-free’ definition will help people with this condition make food choices with confidence and allow them to better manage their health.”

Sometimes I wonder, I am the only teenage girl who doesn’t like him? I kinda like not liking the huge popular celebrity who other teenage girls drool over. Seriously. Some might say that liking Taylor Swift or Carrie Underwood might be stereotypical of teenage girls too, but I don’t care as I really like (more like love) them. Is there a difference between liking them and Bieber?
I am probably going to get crap for saying this, but, even though I do not personally know them, I feel like Carrie and Taylor are better role models then him. Yes, Taylor dates a lot of guys and writes songs about them but she doesn’t get
accused of doing things that are against the law. Whether or not he did them or not, it does not matter much to me. He has been accused of and caught doing them before. Bieber, you may be famous but you are not above the law.
Carrie and Taylor are great remodels. Taylor does all she can to interact with her fans. Her and Carrie dress modestly for the most part and all of their songs are appropriate for people of all ages.
I just wish that Bieber would get his act together and not turn out like Lindsay Lohan as it sure looks like he is headed down in that direction.
Has anyone begin to think about how truly wonderful technology can be? Cell phones, iPods, laptops, etc. Where would we be today without those things? Answer: nothing would be as efficient as it is nowadays and people would probably be having more face to face conversations rather than texting conversations. Letter writing may no longer just be a thing of the past.
While it can be wonderful, it can also be bad. Teenagers now may be writing more in text rather than writing how teachers’ want them to be. Imagine if this problem only got worse. In the future, kids writing essays may write in the form of texting instead of plain writing!
Facebook and Twitter can become problems too. Some people, myself included, spend way too much time on them. I need to get out and see people more, as do others. Social Networking leads to easy internet access and that leads to people being unprofessional and TMI. Some may object to giving over their passwords to parents or employers but I don’t.
People need to be careful with technology and Social Networking. For instance, I am really enjoying writing this on my iPod touch though I shouldn’t be at 1 am. 🙂
My screen/username is zanyteenager, but, truthfully, I am probably not the most zany teenager out there but I needed something unique. I am not like most teenagers. I could have gone with names like: hockeyfangirl, hockeyfanteenager, musiclovingteenager, or NSYNClover, etc. Though I felt if I chose any of those, that I would be pigeonholed and I didn’t want that. I am more than just those. Plus, I didn’t want to be chronicpaingirl or chronicpainteenager. Who would want that? It is a depressing name. Instead, I am Susannah Hotovec, a fun loving, NSYNC/ 90’s boy bands/country music fan and also a diehard hockey fan.
Normal is not me. Normal will never be me probably. Heck, I don’t even like normal all that much.
P.S. I really, really hate when a blog idea comes to you at 1:30 am…..Did I mention how much I hate that?
After a long absence, I am thinking about starting to blog again. This time I am thinking about talking about the chronic pain that I have been in for the last five years and other randomness that I can think up, because who would want to talk about chronic pain all of the time? I wouldn’t. Besides I have better things to talk about, like hockey. But I believe that there is some importance in talking about the struggles of chronic pain-to inform others about it. Not a day goes by that I don’t wish that I was able to go to a day of high school in these last couple of months. Imagine that! It is not that I don’t just feel well enough to do the things that I don’t want to do, it is also that I don’t feel well enough to do the things that I want to do as well.
Is it too much for a player who spent the majority of last season out with concussion symptoms? or too little for the phenomenal player he is when healthy? It’s a tough call, for me at least.
The 2012 NHL play-offs are shaping up to be one of the most unsuspecting ones ever. The LA kings (8th seed) is leading their series currently, 3-1 over the Vancouver Canucks (the number one seed). If that wasn’t enough, the Pittsburgh/Philadelphia series has combined for over 45 goals in JUST the first 5 games! Also, the NHL has seen one of the longest suspensions handed down ever. Raffi Torres got TWENTY-FIVE games for a COMPLETELY illegal hit on Marian Hossa (former Winterhawk, so I might be just the tadest bit biased). Marian was rushed to the hospital only to be released under his own power a short while later.
Also, in the WHL the Winterhawks are currently holding a 2-0 lead over Tri-cities (a TOTAL surprise), both wins coming in overtime and during or a after a penalty on them (the hawks were down a man for those of you are not hockey fans).
Please share your thoughts below on either the NHL or any other sport play-offs.
